So, my readers, I have been nominated for 2010 Bloggies Australian/New Zealander Blogger of the Year.
And now I know why they say what a joy it is to be nominated. It really is. So thank you so so SO much to all who have voted for me. And to those who haven't voted, go to the Bloggies site here and vote for me. Or vote for someone else. I'm just thrilled to be shortlisted.
I do not expect to win. I say that with conviction and authority. I do not have a strong history of winning things. Of course, as many of you know, a long time ago I won the lead role in a TV mini-series, but that led to a bizarre haircut, extreme weight gain and public humiliation, so it didn't end in unqualified triumph.
Still, this isn't a sob story. I did win something once. As a nine year old child I won a train set in a rafffle. I was delighted, as I had always wanted a train set. Unfortunately, the track was round, and was missing one of the links, so that the train would ride 300 degrees around the track and then fall off. This shocking disappointment no doubt led to many ongoing emotional problems, and an extreme distruct of rail travel.
So fair readers, fear not if I do not win. Disappointment sits comfortably with me, like a torn pair of undies. I may long for some new ones, but should I not get them, I can shove the old ones down resolutely in my jeans, put on a happy face, and pretend they're not there.
But if I do win, I shall dance around in a circle in my spangly new knickers for all to see.
For at least 300 degrees, anyway.
