An Announcement

The other night I gave a 'Blog To Book' seminar at the Sydney Writers Centre. I was grateful for the opportunity, not least because I got to tell another room full of people that I had met Simon Baker.

At the end of the seminar, my co-convenor, the lovely Valerie Khoo, turned to me before the group and asked, "So, Kerri. What can you tell us all about your next book?"

I smiled and gave my usual response.

"Nothing at this stage," I said regretfully. "Until a bit closer to the publication date, I can't give you any details."

Valerie leaned in closely."Er.. Kerri," she whispered to me gently, "I read about it yesterday. I've even seen the cover. It's been announced in the Random House newsletter."

Oh. Okay! Well, that was a little awkward. Still, as I figured the cat was clearly out of the bag, I may as well tell them all about it. So I did.

So, seeing as everyone who received the Random House newsletter knows, and the people who attended my blog to book seminar now know too, I think it's only fair to share the details with you.

My second book, The Little Book Of Anxiety - Confessions From A Worried Life, will be released on May 1st this year. I am proud of it. It is a funny but very honest account of living with anxiety, in all of anxiety's different forms. I think an awful lot of you are going to be able to relate, and I hope it will help many of you to feel better about your own anxious lives.

However, the book is very, very revealing - even more so than When My Husband Does The Dishes... - and as the date of publication approaches, I can't help but feel a little.... anxious.

On the other hand, for those of you who didn't realise that I was an anxious person, I am thrilled to bits that I have fooled you for this long.

But as of the 1st of May, trust me, I won't be fooling you anymore.

  5. Cannot wait. Because the thing is, we always feel a little better when we realise someone we admire is kinda like us. And we relate. And you are marvellous and with this, I am sure you will help more people than you will ever know.   Bern x

  6. Oh my gawd. You've no idea how much I'm going to relate to this one. I cannot wait to read it. But for now I must go and stare at my sleeping kids and worry about their future, and obsess about the next time I will fly in a plane. See? xo

  8. Can't wait. This has bumped the label maker from the top of my must-have list.  Oh okay, it may be second after George Clooney, but I'm sure you can understand his #1 placing, right?  Perfect timing for my next holiday, after I twice read your first book while abandoning the feral threesome for a fortnight in Vietnam.

  32. Thanks for writing about anxiety and normalising it. Some of us are quite crippled by it.

  33. I will probably be too anxious to leave the house, and too anxious to enter the book store, and too anxious to stand in a queue waiting to pay.... but I will.
Not only were we born a day apart (I'll ignore the difference in years, for my sake) under the same Star sign, but maybe we were born under the same Worry sign too. x
