Which made it all the more awkward when I met Psychic Sally and.... well... read on.
Sally and me |
As a result, my segment was cut short. I felt a little pissed at Sally Morgan.
On Tuesday, she turned up in the Green Room again. Apparently this week she was on after us (which was a relief). I still didn't know anything about Sally except that she was a famous British psychic. I know now that she's had her own TV shows, and has been personal psychic for the likes of George Michael, Natalie Imbruglia, and the late Princess Di. So that's kind of impressive.
Still, I don't believe in psychics. So I didn't care. I was convinced that Tom had told her the news of his wife's pregnancy before the show. I actually asked him, and he vigorously denied it, and to be fair, I did see him rush into a corner and call his wife on his mobile the minute the segment was over.
But what other explanation could there have been?
Back to Tuesday. I was sitting in the Green Room with Kayte and Beth waiting for our turn to go on set. Sally came up from makeup. To be honest, she looked like she wanted to be left alone. But we said hi. Literally, 'Hi'. Kayte asked how the tour was going and Sally said that she was off to Newcastle. She was used to much bigger audiences, she said. She's far less known here in Oz.
I hadn't intended to ask her anything. I don't believe in psychics, remember? But suddenly, I felt it burst out of me.
"Can you tell me anything about myself?" I asked.
Without skipping a beat, she answered.
"You're just fine, darling," she said. "You're coming out of four months of hellish stress, but you're just fine."
And then she started telling me things, describing my circumstances, and it was absolutely spot-on accurate. I gave her no information. NONE. It was an absolutely cold reading.
I wish I could repeat it all here but I can't. I can't because it was personal and involved other people in my life. But Kayte and Beth were there and they saw it too. I turned white and started to shake. It was the most bizarre experience of my life.
Sally picked names of people in my life, and told me things about them that I knew to be true. She gave me advice about how to handle a certain situation, which was absolutely perfect.
She used words that I use, phrases that resonate with me. "As for the finances," she said, and told me what was going on. Not only did she get it right, but she used the word I use. Finances. I don't say cash flow or financial situation or money issues. I say finances. And so did she. Unprompted.
"You are strong," she said to me. "You have it all in here." And those are the words my mum uses.
She mentioned my sister, briefly. She told me about my place up north - something to do with forestry? Well, yes. The place on the Central Coast is in the national forest. She told me how I feel when I go there. Calm and peaceful. She was right.
She made a couple of predictions. They were very positive. I hope they come true.
I don't know if I believe in psychics. But Sally Morgan did something on Tuesday and I have no idea how.
I'm putting her tour dates here. As I said, this is not sponsored in any way. But it was an extraordinary experience and I wanted to pass it on.

Sounds really positive for you Kerri x
ReplyDeleteIt really was amazing!
ReplyDeleteWow, freaky and I if there is something in it, I am so happy about the predictions. And I already knew you were strong and fabulous so no surprises there. Lots of love xx
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to rain on your parade Kerri, because I have a lot of affection for you...
ReplyDeleteSo, all I'll say is that if the experience made you happy, then what's the harm... :)
I mean, even this hard-core sceptic/Atheist is a pretty mean Tarot reader... seriously, I'm really good at it, even though I don't believe in it one jot! :)
I always liked Doris Stokes on the Don Lane Show (and he was a Believer, given his reaction to anyone who dared know her). "Mer, mer, mer," she'd start, "Someone in the audience has a mother on the 'other side'." And sure enough, there'd be someone in the audience whose mother had passed anyway (hardly surprising, given Don's demographic). I didn't believe in Doris then, I don't believe in psychics now ... but I'll be skipping Sally Morgan's dates, just in case she knows something about me that challenges my comfortable belief! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm a believer and saw that segment where she dropped Tom's bombshell. Wish she was coming to QLD!
ReplyDeleteI saw that segment and got goosebumps!
ReplyDeleteThat is seriously freaky!!
ReplyDeleteFun story no matter what you believe in.
ReplyDeleteKerri, I predict you'll be a published author and appear on TV, one day. Oh.....wait. :-)
ReplyDeleteScared. These things scare me. But I can't wait for the good stuff to come true
ReplyDeleteSally is a true Medium & chooses to share her gift with the world to give us evidence of a life after this one & to help those who have lost a love one grieve a little less. As for psychics and or mediums, there is certainly ones out there that are BS & give people like Sally a bad name . There is nothing to fearful of , as Sally comes from a place of love.
ReplyDeleteI live in Brisbane & felt the same. Lucky enough Tweed Heads is just over an hour away, so I decided its time for a road trip ;)
ReplyDeleteI recommend watching Gordon Higginson on youtube :)
ReplyDeleteI went to a psychic once when a friend took me as a surprise for my birthday. I was born cynical. So I was (a) furious (b) hostile and (c) determined not to believe. I came away shaking, astonished, crying, shaking my head and then calm (and apologetic as my body language had been, frankly, rude). I will never forget the experience, most particularly about the fact she knew that I had had a sister who never lived, who was one of my 'spirit guides'. Amazing stuff
ReplyDeleteI am also a skeptic... But for a laugh I went to the Newcastle show and guess who her first reading was for? Me... I was amazed, shocked and also confused. When we left she did a signing. She truly is a peculiar woman in a very interesting way.
ReplyDeleteThat is crazy. I'm not sure if I believe or not. I think mostly not, but that is freaky. And a little eerie.
ReplyDeleteJust to record the most obvious fact.
ReplyDeleteANYONE claiming to be psychic is in one, or both, of only two states.
1) A CON ARTIST.
2) MENTALLY UNWELL.
Protect the feeble-minded. Join the campaign to change our stupid laws which actually condone LEGALISED THEFT!
Email your M.P. requesting the issue be raised in parliament. to prohibit these thieves from advertising or performing.
I will be travelling down to Twin Towns too I'm taking advantage of a show & stay package. Watched Sally's shows a while back on Foxtel & she is brilliant, some of the names she comes out with are so uncommon & really mean something to the recipients.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is Wow
ReplyDeleteHow interesting... I have often thought of going to a physic. I do believe that some people have an innate sense beyond ours. Maybe she can give me some directions in life lol I'm still searching. Yolanda xx
ReplyDeleteall I can say is WOW xxxx
ReplyDeleteI've always been curious to go to a psychic but skeptical too. And also I'm too scared of tempting fate. I don't really know if it's a good thing we 'know' what is going to happen - does it change our fate? Scary stuff. I do hope your good stuff comes true and I would be blown away too!
ReplyDeleteSally puts on a very good show well worth going too,our encounter with her was as we were leaving she was signing books she spotted us waiting at the lift as my wife was in a wheel chair and come over to thank us for coming to her show ,while on stage she had a dog appear when she was talking to us i ask if i could show her something, not saying what i was going to show her she turned and said you want to show me a picture of your dog when she saw it she confirmed it was him on stage,a lot more to the story but to long to put everything down here a truly lovely lady and a true gentleman for a husband.
ReplyDeleteI'm beyond sceptical but I still think what Sally did was wonderful. She tapped into feelings you had and made you feel something. Good on her. I reckon I could pick apart everything that she said and find an explanation, but sometimes we just want these things to be real. And what she made you feel was important and she is clearly an emotionally generous woman. But I hope her predictions come true for you too!
ReplyDeletePsychics have been planning media stunts to promote their tours since forever. read the books of Harry Houdini or Ted Annemann and they have pages of explanations of clever things you can do ahead of a tour to get free publicity. She may have had researchers out and about knowing that she was going to be on the show. I'm sure she at least googled you before doing the show. Look at how she is now using your experience as a free promo.
ReplyDeleteKeep being skeptical of psychics, Kerri. Their tricks have been around forever and they are always coming up with new ones to keep people amazed.
Possible, except a) She didn't know she was going to meet me, b) I approached her, she didn't approach me AT ALL, and c) the things she said to me are not on the internet. The names she gave me -NOT on the internet. The dates - NOT on the internet. The details - NOT on the internet. I am very very careful with what I put online and no-one other than my mum and bestie could have know those particular details.
ReplyDeleteHey Kerri, because of your article (feeling the pressure?) I'm going to Sally's event on Thursday, and it's my birthday that day. I am desperate to know what's coming up. But I've been to two of the world best psychics in the past and, despite their amazing track record for so many people, they got it so wrong for me. Let's see what Sally comes up with! Too funny normally I'd be in the back row, but on Thursday I'll be the nerd up front being really pushy! Louise x
ReplyDeleteWas she right? Obviously so... Did she tell you what is going to happen?
ReplyDeleteOMG! So it was your dogs spirit that was on stage???? I would love that to happen as I lost my darling little girl four years ago and I miss her desperately. Was she able to give you any messages from your dog?
ReplyDeleteSo, I see that if you cannot explain something, you conclude that something supernatural happened. The fact that ALL such people have historically failed to pass rigorous tests can be put aside and ignored. Even before your experience, you should not have concluded that it was "kind of impressive" that she was a private psychic of celebrity singers and the once wife of a prince. Ask yourself just how the course of human and scientific history could be changed if those powers really existed. Oh,, I forgot , you do NOT believe in psychics, you are just willing to advertise their shows so that they can continue to fleece the money and dignity of their VICTIMS.
ReplyDeleteJoseph, it was a positive experience for me so I was more than happy to give her a shout out. End of story.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
ReplyDeleteSadly no messages as it was my wife who recognized the connection but was too nervous as thinking people would think her silly for the reason & thought it couldnt surely be us..so She approached us after for no unknown reason..Sorry for your loss it must be very painful but if anything Sallys show makes you realise they are always with us & to look for signs everywhere around you & you never know...good luck
ReplyDeleteIt never changes fate nor would you be tempting fate. everything that happens to us happens for a reason its good to be skeptical because if & when you do get a message it will blow you away ..just go with an open mind & open heart & ....just have fun Good Luck
ReplyDeleteLooks like you could have been conned. Don't fall for the trap of thinking that if you can't explain it then the person (Sally) must have paranormal powers. You may not be as clever as you think you are. There may be other explanations that you haven't thought of and don't have the training to understand.
ReplyDeleteWell, I believe you're right in one thing - it was a cold reading. I suspect she actually managed to coax the amazing details from you rather than the other way around. I've seen people like John Edward do that a lot. A couple of simple, clever guesses and you're filling in the blanks for them. But, I could be wrong! And I predict that you will think I am.
ReplyDeleteOhh me too Nikki! - Gosh, I would love to have her do a reading for me.
ReplyDeleteSally is a FRAUD ...like Theresa Caputo and Mark Edward. Here's your proof http://scifake.com/medium-sally-morgan-caught-on-film-cheating-her-audience/.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
How are those predictions working out? BTW every mentalist from Houdini onwards knows the value of media appearances prior to a tour. That wouldn't have been cold reading, it would have been hot reading, and I hate to say it, but as soon as she heard she was on with you she'd have sent someone out digging.
